Flying over churches

I have managed to do some research regarding my first flight with my drone after going up to the local field and testing it. Rotherham Minster’s Spire is 200ft so I have got essentially another 200ft to play with

Don’t forget to set your RTH altitude higher than the spire / your surroundings ( just incase ) you have to press the RTH aka return to home :+1:

No Problem, Hopefully I’ll have my drone around the 14th so I will have at least a couple of days to try and understand it. If the RTH Altitude is set to around 300ft this should be ok shouldn’t it?

As long as nothing in the way home is higher :person_shrugging:

What do you mean by Way Home is this the way that the Drone RTH ?

The RTH altitude has to be set higher than anything that is between the drone (wherever it is at the time) and its home point.
If RTH is activated (by you manually, or due to loss of signal or low battery) It will raise to that altitude, and then take a straight line back to the home point.

The rth route is direct as the crow (or drone) flies

Crikey, you sound just like the chap who commented on a video I made of my local area last February. He kept saying “ young children could be playing in a paddling pool in their garden “ etc, etc. I replied that if I saw any children playing in a paddling pool in the garden in February, I’d be straight on the phone to social services. :joy::joy::joy:

You might want to revisit the act and perhaps share with us the relevant legislation to which you refer ?

@OzoneVibe As defined by the law, Yes

@JockyB No, I only became a member last week. I am always curious wherever Children are etc and I totally understand what you’re saying but I am just going from my training for certain thing and yes Voyeurism is more to do with CCTV but sometimes its better to be safe than sorry

Nope - as defined in the Oxford dictionary.

The Sexual Offences Act 2005 is a very big act but I could swear it was section 68. Its mainly referring to the operation of CCTV etc but flying drones is mentioned in CCTV training etc but Voyeurism came up because of an offence which was committed by a pilot who was in the police.

I completely understand what everyone is saying and I am just curious, As always

Hmmm the chap who commented on my local area video kept on and on about (as he put it) “possibly , inadvertently filming young children in swimming costumes”. I told him as he kept mentioning the subject, that he was the one I’d be worried about. He also mentioned that it was illegal to film ordinary members of the public without their permission. I put him straight on that as there’s no expectation of privacy in a public place. I asked him to catch a bus into the city centre, walk around for an hour, then come back and tell me just how many times he’d been videoed/ filmed in that hour ( not including the cctv footage taken on the 20 min bus ride ) :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

Or lower if flying higher than the RTH set height at the point it kicks in.

My understanding is that if you are above rth height when it kicks in it does not lower?

Thankfully that’s definitely correct. I was flying in the Lake District recently up the side and on the top of a 300m high hill when it lost connection, at the time I’d never considered what would happen when above the RTH height of 50m, the position of the drone at that moment would have meant a long climb to retrieve the drone from the top if it had done anything other than maintain height. 15 seconds of slight panic I then regained connection to confirm no height had been lost and it had started returning maintaining the 300m height.

BBC News - Helicopter sex films PC hid ‘voyeurism’

He was purposely filming couples having sex for his own gratification. If you happen to be in transit over someones back garden and over 50m and happen to catch Karen sunbathing with her breasts out AND you don’t do anything with the footage it’s highly unlikely you’re going to be in the shit.
