Thanks mel it was great to see this up close
By the time I was aware of its journey, it had just set off from a stop in Carnforth, 5 minutes earlier and I would have been able to get to a decent viewing point in time

Hi crackerjack i only found out about it on Edinburgh live and had 45 min to get to waverley to catch departure dying to get this going over rail bridge with drone
Try using rail-record if you are interested in steam services from Edinburgh. Even from Edinburgh, most heading south pass through either Carnforth or Hellifield where they have a prolonged stop for water. In Carnforth, look for a train stopping at Carnforth South Jn and at Hellifield, the goods loop.
