Flying through mist canopy

Golden rule don’t do it , mist / fog = moisture, no good for the average drone + temperature will be low enough for icing of blades

I did try flying through mist one time. I stayed low so as to still see my drone but after I landed found it was covered in water where it had condensed on the arms.

Yes, with a Mini 2. The downward sensors sensed that there was ‘ground’ below the drone. Wouldn’t have mattered so much, but being at the summit of Holy mountain, Anglesey and running low on juice with approx 80m of height, it was squeaky bum time🤣. The drone only wanted to descend at a sloooiwww pace and did so until it landed in me hand with only about 2oc battery.

Never tried it with the Air 3s or 2s. I’m a decent pilot but wary of mist.

I remember a time in exactly the same way, Rich… I also recall being pissed as a fart!:rofl:

I was out this morning, at dawn and disappointingly, the mist was just above ground level, temp was -4C. So no mist to challenge me, but a good recon and now prepared for the next time.

I was flying my mini 2 at a waterfall on a misty day. Tried to land and the drone came down a metre, and stopped. Would not go further. I flew it sideways, away from the water and over a field. Down a metre, stop, up a litle, down a metre, stop. Repeated for what felt like an hour. Once down low enough and the mist started to break up she came straight down and landed. I’m not too fussed about a bit of dampness after reading plenty of stories in here, if it gets a little wet it just needs time to dry out

It’s quite interesting the mixed anecdotal responses to my post, then there is the science. By and large mixing water and electronics isn’t going to end well, but I’m glad your’s survived to fly another day!

Unfortunately no, I’m not that artistic enough to do anything clever.

I flew through the mist at sunset this evening…I just had tho get that video footage.

Broke through it at around 250 feet.

And what did you see?
