Flysky won't bind

So I got my fancy new Speedybee F4 v3.
And I’m having a mare trying to setup my Flysky ibus system. The receiver and transmitter are just not talking.
I’ve turned on Uart2.
Switched the receiver to ibus in betaflight.
Do i need to adjust something on the transmitter?
This is soooo complicated!

What tx do you have? It will probably have an sbus / ibus option

Flysky fs-I6x
Are you suggesting changing to sbus and moving yellow rx wire away from r2 to sbus?

What rx is it?

Looks like a Fli14 rx. Was looking at one the other night on Amazon for something else.

So ibus only.

Try using uart 1 rx. And make sure only uart 1 ‘serial rx’ is enabled.

Someone on a different board was having issues binding one of these to those cheapo FlySky radios that UnmannedTech sell. I didn’t think anyone used FlySky any more. Had to tell him to go and ask on RCGroups, where all the old people that still use it hang. :stuck_out_tongue:

Its been ages since I used flysky. Go behind your head and it failsafes

Instructions are here:

That seems to make the RX settings pretty clear,.

What transmitter are you using?

Note that binding between Tx and Rx is completely unrelated to getting the FC to see the Rx ibus signal.

I suggest getting the Tx and Rx bound first and when you’ve done that you’ll see the LED on the RX go solid when the Tx is switched on.

Then once you’ve done that get the Rx talking to the FC. This second step is all about wiring and setup of the FC ports and other settings in BF.

Someone else described it as a dead protocol.

Ahh, Yith has instructions.

I still have stuff on flysky (tinywhoops) … It’s pretty easy to get going. It’s not long range though! Hence why I moved to ELRS.

He’s wired to R2… So only uart 2 should be set to Serial RX in the BF config.

I’m convinced its a tx setting. Switch off ppm, and select ibus.

Ah, easy peasy bind… Just hold the bind button as you power it on.

I have one… in fact I’ve just been modding it to have OpenTx and to take a 2S 5000mAh Lion battery pack.

Next up is an ELRS module.

Mine doesn’t do that any more… you have to go through all the OpenTx menus now.

Flysky was finaly hacked for opentx?

That is a thing. But the happymodel page says it supports iBus only.

I’ve not used that RX…

I do have a few spare flysky Rxes if you want to try a different one, @JamesG.

Yup…
It’s been done for about a year. I just only recently got an ST-Link to upgrade the firmware on my Eachine Pro58 analog module for my new HDZero goggles… It was easy enough to do after I had that in my hands.

Thanks for your help everyone. Embarrassingly it seems I needed simply to read the instructions. Didn’t realise you had to hold down the microscopic bind button whilst plugging in the battery! Seems like a 3 hand operation…
Now I’ve got to work out why it won’t arm… Betaflight is recognising the tx controls, maybe its something to do with the sliding bars and tiny orange comma in the arm settings.

The one that still gets me every now and then is: throttle not at zero. :man_facepalming:

But yes, check your arm switch settings, and whether there is any pre-arm set. (screen shots might help )
