FPV Camera Gimbal Kit

Just come accross this, looks interesting. FPV Camera Gimbal that can be controlled via a head tracker

I think this is one of those “we did it because we could” products. It’s only really practical if you only fly in angle mode. Flying one of these in ACRO mode would either lead to a crash, as you would be hard pushed to know the attitude of the quad, or the gimbal would be torn apart due to the g-forces of a typical ACRO flight.

Oh I agree it wouldnt be much use for acro freestyle flying but I was thinking it might be good for anyone doing cinematic crusing type flights

If it was stabilising a photo capable FPV camera then possibly. But it appears to be for the primary FPV camera so in reality would only be useful for a split type camera or the full-size DJI Air Unit, both having onboard recording.

Many are now transitioning over to software stabilising solutions, such as Gyro-Flow which is very advanced and free. NurkFPV demonstrated how he took the gyro data from a Gopro10 and applied it to one of his Cine cameras with very impressive results. I’ve only used GF very little so far as a way to correct the fisheye distortion from a Caddx Polar camera (my Cinewhoop doesn’t have blackbox) and I must say I’m very impressed with the results.

From the photos of the product it looks like it stabilises the fpv camera and the action cam although Im no expert on the product lol

The stabilising side I agree is not the best with only 1 axis when you have all these decent software solutions that will do a much better job of stabilising footage :+1:t2:
The feature I thought could be useful is that the tilt of the camera can be manually adjusted via a potentiometer on the radio so it can be adjusted while in-flight without having to land and manually adjust the camera angle.

It would be interesting, if a quad could fly purely with a head tracker in angle mode. Fly where you look so to speak.
Maybe one of the dji fpv quad guys could gaffer tape the motion controller to their head and try it?

Im sure Steve @speatuk is mad enough to try it

The throttle will have to be on a switch. Maybe in the mouth. The harder you bite, the faster it goes

You could put the throttle on a guitar pedal style switch like a car accelerator pedal?

Sod it, just get this

Gonna need a bigger fpv rucksack to fit that in

These guys think they’re clever with their gimbal kit. We are way ahead of em

We can build ours with one of these for those too close for comfort moments

Who says you cant drop a payload while flying

Scream if you want to go faster!

NO! Breaks my heart when people dismiss it like that. I fly this in acro and it’s next level FPV, I have many videos showing me using this to create previously impossible shots for cinematic flying but also I am about to release videos on some of the new freestyle moves this unlocks.

Thanks for sharing this! Check out the YouTube channel where you will see a bunch of examples of my flying with this, it’s next level FPV and the freedom of movement and framing it unlocks is amazing! https://youtube.com/channel/UCfIbmLv53ippQ8tpFiiz_RQ

Nice! Subbed. I suppose its like leaning all over again?

Thanks! And yes it’s like learning a new skill on top of traditional FPV, and if you don’t move the gimbal it’s not any different than a normal FPV drone, but when you learn to use the gimbal/camera angle movement dynamically and learn to coordinate movement with the pitch of the drone it unlocks all kinds of new shots and maneuvers
