In the distant past of two weeks ago, Iโ€™d accompany my son when he went FPVing to act as spotter, sometimes taking one of my DJIs to video him flying ( Iโ€™d โ€˜parkโ€™ it somewhere out of the way so I could keep an eye out for him ).

Now Iโ€™ve taken up FPV, we take turns flying and spot for each other

Iโ€™m going to be stuck though when he moves away for a post-doc job :frowning:

I remember flying gliders at the local R/C club, where we had a winch made of a car starter motor, a foot button, and a return pulley some distance away. Weโ€™d stand by the winchbox and launch our gliders, which would leave the parachute on the hook half way towards the return pulley some 100m away. Weโ€™d pay the local kids some money and lunch at the club to run and fetch the parachute for us, and we called them fetchemites.
