After a rather lengthy and hot headed debate, followed by numerous polls and more arguments, it has been decided (eventually) that @electrotor has come through as the winner for January’s Picture Of The Month, with a lovely and well thought out shot at Inverurie & District Model Flying Club.
Well done Eric, wear your new won (and rather exclusive) badge with pride
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but does this apply to photos uploaded anywhere on the site? Or is it focused on the Daily Photo thread or similar?
Not sure I’d have a cat in hell’s chance of winning, but just curious…
For now it is anywhere on the site. But as most people tend to upload their photos to Photos By Drone this is kind of where we concentrate our efforts, especially The Daily Photo Thread
So if you want to maximise your chances, this is where I’d post your keepers
This honour is most unexpected so I haven’t prepared a speech. (Sighs of relief from those who know me).
The mountain in the background is Bennachie, which should give those south of the border problems to pronounce. Even more fun is the name of the area - Garioch. Pronunciation lessons will be given if you venture this far north.
The flying site is a few miles north of Inverurie in Aberdeenshire. This is one of a number of shots and a video to let the fair weather club members know that you can still go out flying in these conditions. The still air temperature at the time was around -6 degrees but around -15 on the way there. Pre-flight battery warming was carried out and no inflight icing occurred. The model was a DJI Air2S.
The figure of eight pattern was created, we think, by local dog walkers and kids, who use the slope up to the field for sledging. Then again we have a badger set nearby and these guys may be artistically inclined, in which case we await their next masterpiece.
