To introduce yourself yes you can start on the introductions thread, where others may come & say hello near or far maybe in your area or familiar, as highlighted above your post 
Done. I guess it takes a bit to get used to as far as knowing what to do and how to do it. I clicked New Topic, wrote my introduction and then had to hit a start a New Topic again to get it to submit. Not intuitively obvious.
