Looking at getting an Avata and not sure if I should get it with the Goggles 2 or the Integra ones.
What in your opinion is the better option.
I do plan to get the motion controller 2 and the FPV controller and I do wish to use the Goggles with a mini 3 pro from time to time.
I get that there is difference in field of view and one has built on gps with battery but of the lack of them to things is not that big of a deal to me.
Is it just down to comfort or is there a bit more to it than that?
I think the GPS unit in the Integra only serves to provide pilot location for Remote Identification. There was a post on the DJI FPV FB page showing the FPV Drone being bundled with the Integra goggles in the USA, negating the need to fly with the Goggles V2 connected to a mobile device.
Yeah this is my understanding too that it’s more for remote ID but the Goggles 2 are generally regarded to be better overall if your happy to plug your phone in for remote ID.
I think we are still a bit of a way off from this in the UK and if not just plug your phone in and off you go. Still not overly sure if you need to plug the integra ones in for remote ID as how will it update on the Internet
They don’t update on the internet. They send the location to the drone which sends it out over Bluetooth or similar.
Tbh if I was getting the new DJI goggles, I’d get the Integra’s. Smaller, have the GPS, and battery on board. WiFi streaming? Yeah we’ll never use that… and yeah.
Then again more than happy with the V2 and get 120 instead of 100fps limits on the 2 and integras.
Only feature I don’t have is the mini 3 compatibility, but then again I don’t have a mini 3.
Plus wtfos is far better for vistas etc than the DJI OSD. So yeah V2 is great if you don’t wanna FPV a mini 3 imo
The goggles 2 and integra work with the mini 3 pro (and Vistas, O3 Air unit FPV, Avata), it’s the older V2 that I have (it’s their stupid naming, was DJI Goggles (called V1 now), then the V2, then in last year with avata the goggles 2 and then the integras) that don’t work with the M3P. Though the V2 support the hacked WTFOS, which is awesome, hense I have zero interest in upgrading to the 2/Integras.
I’d get the integra’s due to size, weight, GPS (will be future proof).
Firstly, the Goggles Integra does not have a diopter adjustment (focus adjustment) like the Goggles 2. Instead, it comes with interchangeable diopter lenses. This makes the Integra less flexible for pilots who wear glasses.
This was a sort of issue for me with the V2’s. I could get them over my glasses but it wasn’t particularly comfortable. Later I replaced the stock foam for the Newbeedrone foam, and found I couldn’t wear my glasses under the goggles, but because my eyes were now closer to the goggle’s lenses I didn’t need my glasses anyway.
As for RID… hopefully the CAA will see what a Fuster Cluck the implementation across the pond has been, and still is, they may have second thoughts. We can but live in hope.
Well I’m sure they’ve read all of our responses to their unpublished to us largest group of stakeholders (the hobbyists), and we’ve all said “f’. no” (as I did) to the RID section, and be good to their majority users
