Gold member drone insurance and turnover level

Hi folks, new member here, looking at taking out gold membership for the reasonably-priced insurance. I am a landscape architect who occasionally flies the (DJI Mini 4) drone to get aerial photos and 360’s. It is a small part of my business. The insurance is described as covering “up to £15,000 annual turnover from drone-related work”. My company turnover is in excess of £100k/year, but I am confident that drone-related work (e.g. based on flight and processing time, or value added to invoices) would be well under £15k. On that basis, would the Grey Arrow Gold member insurance cover my drone work?

Hi @BillB1 :waving_hand:t2:

Providing your accountants and/or finance software can separate and isolate the costs of your drone services, you’re good to go

Great, thank you for the prompt reply. We keep really good records of time spent on activities, from which we could easily determine the value of drone-related work. Will sign up to Gold Membership ASAP!
Thanks Grey Arrows for providing sensible, affordable cover.

Hi folks, I am digging this one up again.

I’m surely not the only one here who has a need for occasional commercial use. Can people share what they are doing / who they are using to obtain insurance for commercial use of their drone, and at what kind of premiums?

I went for a FlyCovered policy. A little over £100 for the year for 30 days cover - just need to use the portal before flying to mark the day.

If you don’t need many days through the year, I just had a look at CoverDrone and they’ve quoted me a single day policy for commercial cover of an Air 3S at £12.

@JoeC thanks so much for those suggestions. FlyCovered sounds reasonable and might be the right one - I need to check how many flights I did last year!. I would be interested to know if people have other suggestions.

Or, simply indulge your hobby of architectural photography using your drone only during your morning coffee/lunch/afternoon tea breaks. You might even find you’ve obtained some images you could use to illustrate your professional work? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

NB: I am being slightly facetious
