Golden Hour - Wiltshire wheat fields

A new crop circle appeared yesterday morning down near Win Green, Wiltshire. Its a beautiful spot that i’ve shot several times from the ground so i was really excited when one of the most sophisticated crop circles of the year appeared there.

It’s the highest point in the Cranborne Chase and provides panoramic views from the Isle of Wight and Purbeck Hills to Blackmore Vale and Salisbury Plain. Win Green is crowned by beech trees growing on a Bronze Age bowl barrow with a distinctive ridge around the edge. This clump of trees is visible for miles around.

Unfortunately, when i arrived with an hour to go to sunset last night, it transpired the farmer had ploughed the crop circle out just 45 minutes earlier by which time i had already left the house. Dispiriting, but stopped off at another favourite location of mine just up the road and got this lovely golden hour shot instead - not a wasted trip after all

Lovely atmospheric shot Andrew. I was up at Farley Mount early yesterday morning and last night, in the hope of catching the farmers harvesting. The light was very clear. They were harvesting everywhere except where I wanted to film! I heard about the crop circle, but wonder if maybe the farmer reads the websites as well! What a shame it went so quickly. It’s a really pretty area along that chalk escarpment. Have you filmed the Fovant Badges there?

Thanks. The light everywhere was lovely yesterday evening - sadly, most of it was viewed through the car window as i was dashing down to the location(!) but i took a more gentle pace on the way back and was determined to stop and at least get some shots off before it got dark.

I have shot the Fovant badges in the past but that was pre-drone.

I do love that area and every time i venture out into it i remind myself how fortunate i am to live in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK
