What is the best cheapest drone that has position hold please?
I’ve not used one but the MJX Bugs are very popular and highly regarded by its owners.
Though it may appear tempting on first looks stay clear of the Simtoo Fairy. This was another Kickstarter scam where backers ended up funding the manufacture and distribution to Gearbest before they received there own. I picked one up for £20 off eBay and I felt robbed. It needed a complete debug in Mission Planner before it would fly anyway decent.

If it’s just position hold without GPS I can’t fault the Tello, a remarkable little beast.

If your friend wants to save a few quid I can recommend this listing. I purchased my Tello Edu from them and it was like new.

My Tello has blown my mind! Only disappointment is the way it won’t hold its hover over a single colour floor without a pattern of some kind.
Outdoors in light winds in fast mode it’s great fun!
