Greek Regulations in 2026

Hi Folks,

Off to greece for a break. Wanted to fly with minimum fuss. Last year I had a paper from the Greek Flight authority and you were able to fly a sub 250g drome (I’m using a DJI mini 4 Pro) without specific consent IF YOU DID NOT GO MORE THAM 50m from you in any direction. Of course in open flying areas and not over monuments, military bases, air ports etc etc. and they produced a small drawing showing what you were able to do So I emailed to check and they insist of between 01 and 5 days notice and setting out full details co-ordinates etc. This is not possible as I don’t know exactly where I want to fly until I am there!!! obviously I would of course use their Drone Aware App . I asked what info they would like. I have my EU basic license and in fact the C of C EU equivalent, plus insurance and registered the drone in the EU. So everything is legitimate.
I did send them a copy of the document setting out the 50m rule from last year and they said it is no longer a valid document.
Anyone aware of these change in rules?

May be Greece is, like other parts of the EU anti recreational drone.

So Fellow drone users be aware if you are thinking of flying in greece. Typical EU over regulation - not about safety? Probably like the UK with roads where councils invent and introducing naff rules to raise fines to FUND THERE DEBTS THEY RUN UP WITH OTHERS MONEY!

Maybe its something to do with the nearby conflict.

I know travel insurance has gone up in the area (if you can get it)

I agree, the Greek authorities are pretty touchy and have in the past even prosecuted aviation enthusiasts near their airbases.
