I’m surprised this thread hasn’t been added to for quite a while, but I’ve stumbled across it and feel it should be revitalized! I’ve decided to call my drone Tyson after the Boxer Mike Tyson (Not Mr. Fury) because it packs a punch.

Since this I had Dave Jr (Mini), then Dave Jr II (Mini 2) and Dave the Bastard (DJIFPV)
Also there is Prebastard (THFS)
Betaflight positively encourages this as there is a place to put the name. You can also make the name appear in the OSD which helps in identifying recorded footage.
So… I named my first two 3D printed drones “Eric” (3") and “Ernie” (2"), this being after the gerbils I had as a kid, who were named after the comedians.
The little whoop I have is “Wasp”…
The 3" Gecko framed drone is unimaginatively called “Gecko”
And my first 5" drone is “BigUn”.

Which reminds me my Furibee 215 Pro is called Furious! Sadly sat in it’s box and not flown for a number of years…I should probably sell it!

One of the Inspires is called Sparky. My Mavic Air is Tyson. None of the S900s or S1000 are yet named. The Droidworx are Flat 8, Coax 8 and Octo 1100.
My recently acquired Mavic Air 2 is.called, unimaginatively, Emma 2
Might name mine Enord sounds a nice name in a backwards kind of way

So the thinking goes like this…
Think of a hovering ‘droid’… the world.s most underrated file was Disney’s “The Black Hole” set at some future date, one of the heroes was a damaged and battered ‘droid’ called “Old Bob”.
So at the current time “Old Bob” would not be old and would probably have enough memory to be able to store his full name “Robert”… well it made sense at the beer infused time…

The name I gave my Mini 2 on Airdata is Twoie
I called my Mavic mini Sarah to wind the wife up, she seems to be a little jealous of her.
My Mavic One is called Mavis for the same reason 
“I’m just getting ready to take Mavis out to the cornfield. I have three batteries all ready to go and I think I will get 30 minutes out of her if I’m lucky”
