"Have you got permission to use that here?"

It had been 9 months since I filmed the development of our new course so after a particularly average round I took my mini 3 Pro over the new ground. I had used up one battery and just wanted to take a Pano so took it up for a 2nd time. Just a few seconds after take off this guy pulls up behind my car in a particularly large merc and shouts “Have you got permission to use that thing here?” It’s the first time I recall being challenged but I had rehearsed my response for such an event, so replied “This is a fully licenced sub 250g drone mate, I’m an experienced pilot with a flyer ID and am parked in a public place and therefore don’t need anyone’s permission to fly here. But for your information I’m also a member of the IGPC and the staff are fully aware and are happy for me to document this wonderful development so kindly let me focus on the task in hand.” He looked a little lost for words and mumbled something that I didn’t quite catch and sped off at a rapid pace. Anyway here is the video I took, which incidentally the Club Secretary and the Course Manager were delighted with.

@doctormako Thx matey, I loved doing it and can’t wait to challenge others for the most balls lost to the Lake!

@BudgieUK thx Peter, learnt a long time ago that keeping calm when faced with a bully was half the battle won! …The other half was run like sh•t!

@D0c.Col Colin, how many times did you have to repeat that before you had it ‘off pat’?

Excellent video and the best way to handle that awkward situation. :+1:

@Speedbird Hi Mike, I made it up myself, Pat didn’t have anything to do with it.:rofl:

Seriously not too many times. I used to have to do many briefings in the days when I worked so a couple of times were enough (bulletin points anyway). :+1:

@MA2flyer Thx Barrie, I thought it might bore some people being golf related but seems okay. :+1:

@JockyB Cheers John. Got a few pointers from others finding themselves in the same position. :+1:

Brilliant work and i love the music. Just one thought. Would it have been possible to start at the first tee and work your way round as if playing a round??
(Says he who used to get far too much “exercise” on the golf course cos he was such a rubbish player!!!")

@Davethebone Thx Dave. I was only taking a video of the 12 new holes and intended covering the area in 3 runs up and down; as the speed I was going at would have meant I would have run out of battery before I finished. The club assistant pro does the fast stuff from tee to green but the oldies wanted a more generic view that was repeated (their memory, like mine, gets more fish like every year we celebrate). Once the 6 old holes that are to remain are combined with the new part of the course, I will do a hole-by-hole fly through though. :+1:

PS. I’m an army golfer too!

All good news then!! An army golfer?? Im assuming loads of comps between regiments, or a secret weapon???

@Davethebone No Dave… I mean… Left, RIght, Left Right (up the fairway)!

Nice video. My in-laws live in Great Haywood so will send them the kink to the video so they can see what’s been going on up there. I also had my wedding reception in Ingestre Hall some year back so nice to see around there again.

@bulldozer thx John. Did a video of the Great Haywood Farm Shop when I first got a drone (mini 2) and I keep threatening to video Ingestre Hall and the Church adjacent every time I pass them both between the current course’s 2nd and 3rd holes but haven’t got around to it yet… maybe when it stops bloody raining! I remember beating seven shades of crap out of thier drum set on the top floor of the hall (under the Wren dome) on one of their open days. Happy times!
