Help with Skypixel required

hi, old time drone flyer, needs help with Skypixel. Never been much into social sharing apps eg. Facebook, ect. ect. I do occasionally want to share a video or pic from my drone flights, eg. Just being able to send an email :incoming_envelope: with a link :link: so the recipient could just click on it and see my pic, 360 deg, panorama or short video clip. I have no problem uploading it to Skypixel using my phone (with the fly app) or using my PC and the web Skypixel site.

I can see all my uploads myself, but when I click share :link: link, and post it in a email :email:, the recipient reports they get a message “the video is unavailable”

Trying to figure out what’s going wrong. I logged on to my PC and, it appears that some of the files were marked as ‘private’. I thought I’d cracked the problem, and re-plublished with the privacy set to ‘public’. And re posted an email to my friend, but they still say they can’t see my video :sob:

Even if I send them a link to my whole Skypixel folder, they can only see a couple of very old 360 deg shots, and none of the new stuff. So What am I doing wrong?

Share a link to a non working one?

Hi Matt, Thanks for that, this is the actually link text that the [Share] button creates.

This is the text part of the url following the skypixel.com bit of the link:

/videos/dji-0167-trim-360-deg-spin-left?utm_source=copied&utm_medium=PCWeb&utm_campaign=share&sp=0

This is the link pasted in:

Could you try that one again , and see if this one also works for you?

Both of those are marked a ‘public’.

This one is marked as ‘Private’.

and the text in the url is:
`/videos/dji-0167-trim-landing?utm_source=copied&utm_medium=PCWeb&utm_campaign=share&sp=0

Both ‘public’ links worked fine, the private one just said " currently not available" or something like that. Try sending YOURSELF an email with the link you are trying to share with your friend, and then see if YOU can open it maybe ?

I know this site seems to make it very easy to share/ enbedd links but adding certain links in emails have given me problems in the past

Hi Matt, Yes I already tried sending myself an email with the link to a ‘private file’, and I can see it no problem, it appears to only cause a problem if I send the same link to another person. I think the problem is if I all ready sent them a link which was originally marked as ‘private’, even if I then go into Skypixel and edit the file to mark it as now ‘public’, and re-send them a new email with the new link, there browser cache tries to retrieve the old link, or something like that?

Yes a I have also had problems sharing/enbeding links in e-mails in the past, depending on what e-mail client, browser combination the recipient is using.

Ask them to copy and paste the link into a different browser ? NOT to just click on the link in the email. This will negate any browser cache

FYI, going to your user profile on Skypixel I can see and play 8 creations. These must be the ones you have made public

That’s interesting, I can see 20.

But the only way to see if they are marked Public or Private is clicking on each in turn, then selecting the edit icon.
edit

Then unselecting this…

Then scroll down to Privacy.

And clicking [Publish] again, if I want to attempt to change the settings.

Well at least it means you can just send your friend a link to your profile page, and just make the videos you want him to see, public.
You could make them public for an hour, or a day and then turn them private again, or permanently public, whichever suits you ?

Ok, if you could spare a moment to test that for me?
This is a link to a File currently marked as private.

Please try and click it and let me know that happens. :grinning:

Then I’ll re-publish, set to Public and see if you can now see it.

For info its just a wide angle Photo called “Wide angle looking west towards RBH”
This is a low rez screen shot of what you should see.

It says

'sorry this content is currently unavailable "

Yep can see that picture fine.

AND the first link also works now :+1:

Great!! and thanks For all the help Matt!

Your welcome ! Also, If your friend likes the photos and videos, you COULD point them to GADC. Plenty of great content to browse and they may get bitten by the bug
