I wonder what the transmission losses will be on a cable that long ?

Apparently, these long Submarine power cables operate with a 25% voltage drop. They use repeaters along the cable run to boost the signal.

There’s another one coming online shortly, 29 December 2023.

@clinkadink when you say “we’re” Chris, were you actually involved in the project, or just following it with interest?

It certainly must have been a knee-knocker for sure! :face_with_spiral_eyes:

The last 15 years I’ve worked in the nuclear sector.

I’ve been working on the Hinkley Point C project full time since 2016. It’s due to be online in 2027. I have now starting to do a bit on the Sizewell C Project too, that’s not due to be online until 2031.

Cool. I always thought you had a certain glow about you. My only involvement with radioactives was with the transport of ADR Class 7, and that was always a mare! Long since put behind me now … thank the Lord.

That wasn’t to/from Aldermaston or Burghfield was it?

Already said too much, OSA an all.:rofl::rofl::shushing_face:

Ditto.
