HMS Queen Elizabeth home coming

On the 30th July 2024 at 20.27 HMS Queen Elizabeth returned to Portsmouth after repair and maintenence work in Scotland. During the ships harbour entrance which was being assisted by several tugs the rear (red) starbooard tug control cable, snapped. This is just visable at point 2.27/8 in the video. A splash in the water directly in front of the red tug can be seen. At that precise moment a load bang was heard, (not on this recording). She is now reunited with her sister ship HMS Prince of Wales at their base in Portsmouth Royal Naval Base. I have increased the the video speed to reduce time. Large aircraft ships and aircraft carriers enter the port much slower normally.

Nice footage…

Sadly these two carriers will see more action at the Rosyth Dockyard than anything else…

You can see one of the tugs at 3:15ish racing to the starboard to what looks like to get another line to replace that red tug you see at 4:12 it being up along side to get the line it seems then a little later taking up the slack.

great footage.
