In 2021 the Communist Party of China held a lightshow to celebrate its 100th Anniversary which consisted of 5,200 drones.
for analogue VTX (FPV) racing, I think the number is about 8 due to bandwidth, and everyone being on a different frequency with a spread between them

for digital VTX (FPV) it can more I believe but I’m not sure if it can be much more, I use a DJI O3 and I noticed that the O4 seems to affect it when others fired up their mini 4 pro etc
for displays there can be hundreds or thousands all flying in sync

so your question was a bit broad… like asking how many cars can use the M25? depends if they are parked and are small… or all doing 70mph in all lanes at the same time with the correct breaking distance between them… how long is a length of string…

Many thanks for replies, I hope to be getting a DJI mini 4 for Xmas and just wondered if I went off to try some filming etc and there was someone else already at my chosen spot would I have to wait till they had finished before I started.

If you clashed with another DJI drone - you’d probably win a prize.
It’s impossible.
Although saying that, DJI drones can be a bit iffy around the DJIFPV
@ChrisR1 Come along to a GADC meet up (especially the big the meet) and there will be plenty of drones in the sky at the same time
