I’m posting a video in a min which might give you some insight as to penetration ( No jokes please Karl ).
You can see me at the start sat on the decking and at the furthest which was going through the shed and a long the lane I experienced a little break up picture wise, but not sure if this shows on the video .
I sent it back to caddx for repair, but its been stuck at leaving the country for 2 weeks now.
So, I’ll be contacting the carrier on Monday, but looking to replace it maybe… runcam thumb is great but I want 4K as an option.
So insta360 go 2 is something I am considering, if I can find a retailer with a support service that does not require me to have to send it back to china…
If size isn’t too much of an issue I can recommend the Runcam 5 Orange. It’s similar size to a Gopro Session 5.
It’ll do 4K@30FPS, has gyro stabilisation, good battery life, and when it hit the ground at 170kph when I crashed my Tyro119 it didn’t even have a scratch on it.
It’s also bright orange so if it does come off in a crash it can be easy to find again.
Not as cheap as a Runcam Thumb but still less than 100 squids.
Heh FPV isn’t NOT cheap. I bought the indoor tinyhawk S (is it? the whoop one), then got the V2 version after a year. Got EV800D and TX16S with it. Then the DJI Mini. then self built the martian (£300 or so (with a new runcam 5 as an aside attached to the top), and lost it… Then built another martian and now cine8 + Babyhawk II (amazing thing that is). Also 3d printer, which was never going to get, and upgraded to Cobra X. All the bits, pieces, blah blah, who knows what I spent, dread to think and won’t work it out
All great fun, the building and the flying (and the crashing ;))
This morning I realised I could now print my own drones!
Of course, I don’t have an extensive “spares box” because I tend to just buy what I need. So on Monday there’s *cough*, *cough* quid’s worth more stuff arriving from Unmanned so I can build one of those dinky 18650 jobbies.
Edit: Ooh, white looks nice. I was just thinking the other day that quads are mostly black (it’s a carbon fibre thing, I guess) and it would be cool to have a white one but could I really be arsed stripping one down and painting it? Why didn’t I buy white PLA?
I was thinking the other day, Im surprised people dont get their frames hydrodipped. Carbon frames are small enough you could probably even do it at home in the bath tub
I really don’t like this thread. . You start adding it all up in your head then quickly decide to stop and never tell the Mrs the truth. It’s amazing how cheap everything for the drone is… Or so she thinks.
