Has anyone had much experience with using manual mode with the avata 2? Ive just got the fvp controller and have adjusted the joysticks and researxhing how to properly take off, land and how to hover. Just wondered if anyones had any direct experience. Its too wet where i am to take it out now. If the throttel is say at 50 odd percent then how would the pause or hover work? Similarly landing, does it matter where the throttal position is?
If it’s too wet outside get some time on the sim
If you hit the pause button it will take it out of manual mode and into normal mode
Just watched this video ehich goes rhroufh a few rhings like switching between modes on the fly and using the pause button. Visually shows that it doesnt matter the position of the throttal if you press the pause button. This is pretty awsome! @milkmanchris good idea! Ewithough a computer this bank holiday weekend im using a flysky fs-i10 on the sim at home. How about yourself?
Not got bitten by the FPV bug, although I do have a DJIFPV in my arsenal and an Avata 2 sat in the basket
Only a click away
Hi @new_wave_24
Yes, I only fly the Avata 2 in manually and have been flying fpv for over 8 years.
To start with I would recommend using normal or sports mode to take off initially and put it back in normal to land, that way you’ll get family on how you transition from normal to manual. Keep your camera angle down to about 10-15% to start with while you get used to it and always keep moving forward, hovering as actually harder in FPV mode.
I have also changed the right 3 way switch to arm/disarm the motors, it’s the quickest way disable the motors if you crash.
Thanks @Paul01 good tip abour the camera angle and the arm disarm on the right3way switch
Do it and then we teach you manual fpv , it’s another level
Ive been out this morning with lassi (avata2) and just got back. First time using the fvp controller and it was pretty good. Glad i put some hours into the sim first hand. Took off and landed a few times in normal mode and switched to manual while in the air. When i came back to land i popped into normal mode, changed the camera angle so thats its pointing straight down and landed it right where i wanted it. Would be nice to have a function where you could set the camera angle like ive mentioned with a single press so that you dont jave to keep scrolling on the dial. Similarly if your doing other tasks for photography or flying angle choices. You could just press the custom button and it will go straight to it. First experiences with the controller and fvp other then the sim was great! Taking off, landing and hoving is simple once you done it few times switch back i ot normal mode one more tip i noticed too but this maybe obvious to some. The grass waswet so you really do need a landing mat even if its clear skys out and the grass is short.
Glad to hear you got on alright with your first flight. Rather than using a landing mat another way is to bring it back in normal mode, leave it to hover and then carefully grab the Avata and flip it upside down to stop the motors.
Hi @Paul01 ive done this a few times when using the motion controller. Do you think this damages the motors in anyway? As i flip it mine seems to ramp up atleast in sound. Wasnt sure if over time it could be overloading the motors.
Yeah thats normal as the drones trying to hold its atitude, as long as you’re just quickly flipping it over it wont cause any issues.
