I live in Milngavie and planes fly over my house all day as it is the flight path to Glasgow airport. The FRZ shows on drone assist and doesn’t show any warnings for my address.
I don’t ever intend to, once I buy my DJI 4 pro, to fly it at my home but perhaps in Mugdock country park.
As already stated by Paul @ParmoPaul - you’re outside the FRZ so there is no flight restriction. The FRZ zones have been created large enough to ensure that your drone flying at a max permissible height of 400 feet/120 metres will not interfere with airport operations
Thanks for information. Why not? I don’t want any hassle from anyone who doesn’t understand the drone code and restrictions even though I could legally fly it near my home. Before I started to learn about drones, I would have wondered myself if anyone was flying a drone underneath the flight path. As a newbie I am still educating myself
I’m under the flight path for Prestwick, not dissimilar distance to you from the Glasgow FRZ. As Paul says, planes coming in to the airport will be well above where you’ll be flying when they pass overhead.
That said, we do get the very occasional low flight (usually military) that rattle the windows. If you ever get the same you’ll know yourself that you feel (let alone hear) them coming miles away. Just keep your eyes and ears open and you’ll be fine.
I get what you’re saying about hassle from people who don’t understand the rules … but in my experience you’re worrying about something that just doesn’t happen. Get out there and enjoy yourself
I can’t find anything regarding drones on Murdock website. However, I do have a recollection of seeing a notice at the visitor centre requesting that if you intent to fly a drone to contact them, phone number was on the notice. I also think there was a £10 charge.
I am also in Bearsden and no problem flying because outside FRZ. Murdock would be more of concern so TOAL at Drumclog Car Park and go east over reservoir.
