What SD card size do people use, ive got the mini 3, is there any need for one in the drone and one in the control pad?
64 to 128GB seems the norm
And is there any need to have one in the drone and controller?
No but if you save a lot of waypoint maps it helps, just a 16GB for that controller will suffice
No more than 128GB, even then you’ll have enough storage for about 10 batteries worth of flying. Just remember to be proactive and download the footage. If you lose the drone you will lose a bunch of footage.
And yes keep one in your controller as when you pop the drone card into a card reader you will probably forget to put it back in. So having one in the controller is a great backup.
As is having a spare in your bag/wallet/car
Concentrate more on the speed and quality of the card. A couple of 64Gb is plenty for most scenarios.
The reasons? It forces you to actually take the captures off and reformatt every now and then. If you lose a massive card, you’ve lost a massive amount of footage/photos. And for me personally, having a smaller card card forces me to think more about what I’m doing, instead of filling it up with shite. When I used 120 roll film I only had 12 exposures per roll. My hit rate was higher and I also developed and printed my own stuff. I learned very quickly that more time spent in the field was better than time spent in a smelly darkroom looking at poorly exposed, badly focussed, terribly composed piles of shit. Since digital came along my hit rate has dropped massively, and I spend more time deleting shite off the card than I do taking the pictures.
As others said a really good quality 64 plus keep a spare in your bag
I use 128g Sandisk extreme v30 in all my drones (except the Neo). And 64g sandisk (same class ) in my controllers. And thanks to ParmoPaul I now know where I have a back up if I forget to replace the card after downloading to computer, which I do after every flight. I did forget to replace my card once, luckily the M2Pro has some internal storage.
I have the same but 256GB… t’is a great card.
Wot ee sed!
