If you look at this section of the Midlands (at this level of magnification), it looks like there is a lot going on in Coventry, but at first glance it looks like (as an example) Hinkley is OK to fly, but there is actually a huge NOTAM that covers the whole area (if you are used to DroneScene you will spot the faint blue tinge).
If you zoom out, (on an iPhone at least) you can’t get to see the edge of the restricted zone, as you have to zoom out so far, that the overlays are turned off.
This isn’t a criticism … purely an interesting (I hope) observation.
I wasn’t really highlighting the NOTAM as much as the fact that the area is so huge you can look at Dronescene and not realise there is a faint blue tinge over the whole area you are looking at.
You could be in an area and think it’s OK to fly, but actually be inside the restricted area without realising (as you can’t see the edges of the restriction)
Yep same as the one on Friday when they ( red arrows) were enroute to Brize Norton. What gets me is why they create a full circle encompassing the route, when the route only occupies a fairly small part of the circle ?
I wonder if these guys are actually asking for permission to fly, or if they just got their wording wrong? Might find out on the six o’clock news tomorrow
From the 5th-7th there are temporary flight restrictions, GPS and radio Jamming so you won’t be able to fly in the city and immediate area outside.
This a security measure as the Duke of Westminster will be getting married in Chester Cathedral and Prince William will also be attending. Some roads and pathways will be shut in the centre of Chester.
Hi all I noticed this big blue area at the weekend on drone assist and can see from the info it’s active again on Saturday, it covers a massive area Wrexham to sleaford and Warwick to Wakefield. Not come across it before, is it a no fly at this time or keep an eye out and be careful?
