Is the Mavic 3 Worth Buying

I am considering buying a Mavic 3 classic. Is it worth buying; is it a good drone (I want it for good cinematography and photographer) and also in terms of changes suggested in 2026. It is the V2 and so has classification. Thanks in advance for the advice.

My thoughts…

DJI don’t even list the Classic for sale, while they do accessories etc, they don’t list the drone for sale…

Buy Camera Drones - DJI Store

Thus, it’s logical it’s discontinued… Support, updates etc may also be discontinued, that would need checking - how long are they going to support it for. Can you still get the Care refresh no, it’s not listed on the web page.

Personally I would go for the best/latest the budget will allow, even if that means waiting a while to get it…

As I said, just my thoughts, hope it helps. Others may have different views/ideas/comments…

I have one of the original Mavic 3s and love it. C1 marked so next year it will be possible to fly it like a Mini. 4/3 sensor gives brilliant results.
It really doesn’t matter if DJI stop supporting it, if it works, it works and won’t need any updates.
Maybe the Mavic 4 is a slightly better drone but a lot more money and a C2 so more flying restrictions.

Yes you can still get care refresh, I’ve had a few replacements of that said drone this year already, even up until 73 days ago ( my last replacement ) you can / could still get care refresh straight from the horses mouth from DJI repairs in Nottingham …

useful to know…

My two penn’orth… I’m biased, coz I own one (LOL), but the Classic is a great drone.

The Classic is officially ā€œobsoleteā€. I can’t find it listed on DJI’s store anymore and the software (active track and RTH) isn’t as slick as on DJI’s newer drones. That said, it still flies very well, acts like it’s nailed to the spot in high winds, and will be A1 (Fly Over) from January 1st.

It only has the one (wide) camera, but it’s an awesome 4/3rds Hasselblad system that gives fantastic photos and 5.1k videos @50fps. I don’t miss not having a Tele lens, but I think I would miss the 4/3 sensor. I don’t think you can get better photos or videos (except on the C2 Mavic 4 series)… and as a wise person once said, size does matter. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

It’s an awesome drone which I would buy again in a heartbeat… though I hope that day doesn’t come soon, coz it’s still selling around the Ā£1500 mark IIRC and I’d wince at spending such a lot, or justifying the spend to my wife!

It’s not going to fall out of the sky, or suddenly give rubbish images or videos, just because DJI have moved on to shinier things.

I will buy a Mini 5 pro ā€œsoonā€ - mostly to acquire the slicker software and the ability to operate in ā€œstealthā€ mode near people (the Classic is big ā€˜n’ fat and draws attention) - but I’m sure the Classic will remain my go-to drone for the foreseeable future.
