Just wondering if there is an option to have Drone Scene on an iPad or mobile for instance as an actual app, rather than having to browse the website? I often carry my drone bag in the car and then realise that although I think I have found a good place to fly, I haven’t actually checked it out on Drone Scene beforehand. What do others do?
You mean as in not needing a data connection? All the data is updated dynamically, so this wouldn’t be possible … or advisable.
Not meaning when not having a data connection, but just being able to load a dedicated app itself. Both mobile and iPad are live on the networks.
Most people just create a shortcut on their home screen. An app wouldn’t provide any other benefits.
Fair do’s, just didn’t want to be missing out on a different approach if there was an app available. I’ll sort a shortcut out on both devices right now
The cost of developing an app (iOS and Android) would be prohibitive … for the few that would actually make use of it over a shortcut. And we know everyone wants everything for free these days.
@R3SKT I’ve just added a shortcut to my mobile phone home screen, as I use that if needed when using the DJI Smart controller.
Yep, now sorted on both phone and tablet, really easy to do in hindsight, don’t honestly know why I hadn’t thought to do that earlier, I guess I was overthinking it as usual
I have added a shortcut to my home screen for this site and drone scene. For some reason, this site opens up in its own instance kind of like an app, but drone scene opens up as a browser tab. Anyone know why that is?
Both create the same “app like” instance of the browser for me. on Android. That’s on Chrome or Brave browsers.
Interesting. Also on android. I might have to play around a bit. I’m using Firefox, so maybe that has something to do with it
Agreed. Firefox doesn’t treat Drone Scene as it should.
Lost my patience with Firefox a long time ago, now there’s another reason not to go back to it.
I switched from chrome because Firefox let me block ads on mobile.
Brave does that by default.
