There’a bug in Drone Scene where if you click on either the elevation icon or the Local Authority question mark icon and then click off the same icon, and then click on the map layer icon you can’t get rid of the map layer options pop up.
I’m unable to replicate this @MrSpongeHead
Can you share some more information please:
- Which device?
- Which operating system + version?
- Which browser + version?
If you can capture a screen recording showing precisely how to replicate this, it’d really help too
@PingSpike I’ve just tried it on my Mac and it works ok, so I think it might be when it’s being done on a mobile device (that’s where I noticed the issue originally).
I’m using
Android
Xiaomi 12 with the attached screenshots showing version numbers etc. etc.
I tried it on the Chrome app same mobile device with the same outcome.
Thanks for the additional details @MrSpongeHead
Interesting that nobody else has mentioned this before.
Just confirming the steps to replicate then:
- Click the Elevation Tool button on
- Click the Elevation Tool button off
- Click the Map Layers button to open the layer option menu
- Map Layers menu then refuses to close, no matter what you do
Have I got that right?
Yes that sounds right.
I’ve tried to upload a screen recording but for some reason I can’t select the file, maybe a file format issue not sure.
Zip it and post it (or use YouTube)
Try this:-
DroneSceneBug.zip (2.7 MB)
That worked, cheers mate, not sure why I didn’t think of that to begin with.
Thanks for the video.
Couple more questions.
Do the menu items work? Can you tick and untick things, or has the entire thing locked up?
I don’t know enough about the DuckDuckGo browser but it looks to be in some sort of “full screen mode”? How did you do that? Does this issue occur if the browser is not in full screen mode?
Are you launching this from a shortcut saved on the home screen? Or browsing to Drone Scene using the browser normally?
I just tested it on an Apple phone with chrome and it worked fine
I believe that browsers are a bit fake on Apple anyway and they force Webkit behind the scenes. At least that used to be the case. Not sure if this has changed but it probably isn’t Chrome under the hood to remain compliant with Apple’s policies.
@PingSpike the outcome is the same whether accessing Drone Scene from a shortcut or manually entering the address.
The web page loads in a “Mobile Site” view, and the issue doesn’t exist in the “Desktop Site” view. DuckDuckGo itself hasn’t locked up, I can still select menu options and tick and untick layers on the popup.
It only seems to be an issue with selecting / unselecting the elevation and local authority options, as long as you haven’t previously selected / unselected either of these it works ok with the others. If that makes sense.
I get the same result in the Chrome app so not limited to the DuckDuckGo app.
Equally as interesting and very useful to know, thanks for the update.
We’ll be in touch
I’ve just tried the same using google chrome on galaxy S21, exactly the same result as posted above. Open and close elevation tool, open map layers and can’t get them to close.
ps, just found that by swiping down from top of page to refresh it, the layers box disappears.
@MrSpongeHead this issue has now been resolved.
Thanks for the bug report
