Jittery footage

Iv’e just finished uploading a lot of footage from our Iceland trip and finding that a lot of it is very jumpy and jittery. This is all DJI footage from a Mini 4 Pro, a Mavic 3 and a Pocket 3. All shot in 4k HLG at 30fps with 1/60s shutter speed. I have noticed this before but not as bad. Footage from Insta 360 cameras and Canon SLR is fine. The weird thing is that if I play the DJI footage through the TV or a phone its silky smooth. I normally use VLC player but its the same on any other player. The PC is well up to the job. AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, 98mb RAM with an Nvidia GEForce RTX 3060 video card. I have tried two different Benq monitors but its jittery on both. Since getting home I have shot some test footage with the Pocket 3 using Standard, HLG and DLog . Same result, perfect on the TV and phone but jumpy on the PC. Also my tried my laptop and the other halfs laptop with the same same result. It leads me to wonder if there is something in DJI footage that PCs don’t like. Has anyone got any ideas please as I need to get this sorted. Thanks for any help.

Have you edited the footage or are you looking at the original from the Drone?

I found that if I edit my video the framerate for the timeline in DaVinci has to match the original video framerate or the output jitters.

H265 or 264 ?

If the former make sure your codecs and drivers are all up to date

Thanks for the replies guys.

The footage is original from the drone.
I think HLG is always H265??
Iv’e done a new install of VLC which says it natively supports H265. I think I’ll contact DJI and ask them for their opinion.
Failing that I’ll find a spare hard drive and do a clean install of Windows and see what happens.

How about posting a snippet here so others can try it, you might save yourself a reload of Windows.

Try Pot Player

That’s working fine.
Also VLC an other players now working, all nice and smooth.
I can only assume that Pot Player has installed another codec that’s working across the board.
Thanks very much Chris
