I have just passed my A2 CofC not a bad feat for after my 77th birthday. So you can teach an old dog new tricks.
Congrats Paul, where will your first flight under the A2 freedom be?
Ooh I don’t really know as yet. Where would you suggest? Mind you the weather needs to be a bit better than it has been.
Congratulations ! I did it at 80. Won’t really need it after January when regulations change !
Good Job. I was really pleased with myself when I passed, it seemed like a great achievement, you should be really proud, just shows that your never too old to learn new things.
Well done Paul!
In a similar boat myself so I was going to ask you for info on your learning schedule and how best to prep for this…….
Then I read John’s reply which killed my Christmas time study plan about the ‘proposed’ reg changes - have they been finalised??
Confused, Newcastle upon Tyne ![]()
Tempted to do Uk and Europe version to keep the mind active
@David901 check out the Silver & Gold Members Only category for details of your A2 CofC training discounts ![]()
I’ve done the same also, same age, well done to both of us
Well done and congratulations.
Well done Paul, it’s always comforting to know you have attained that level of understanding as even if you don’t need it come January, it still provides assurance of your knowledge base ![]()
And as Rich @PingSpike mentioned, if you are thinking on going for your A2CofC Gold and Silver members can take advantage of a lovely discount that GADC provides for you…which is exactly what I did ![]()
My thoughts exactly
Nothing was mentioned but I assume we will be kept informed. I learned through UAV Academy. I was working on acquiring my minimum flight hours first. But I just downloaded the materials which form a firm foundation ie the CAP 722 etc. I had a good read through the three parts but never took the quizzes at this stage. Until I got the relevant flight time I then filled in the student form and sent off the flight logs. My reading was done as and when I could once I got through I tackled the quizzes. I was impressed that I remembered a lot. You can do as many quizzes as you want they are random each time. When you are ready take the mock examination. Again you can take that as many as you want but after a period of time. I would say it is totally worth it. Any problems no matter how crazy it sounds someone will be available to provide a solution for you via email. The staff there are brilliant at what they do. And good luck.
Well done you ![]()
well done . i’m hanging on waiting for the new laws to kick in from January 2026 as I’ll probably will not need to do this for the Drone will flying .
Can I ask you . Are you based in the UK , flying in your Drone in the UK . And which Drone are you flying regarding your certificate ..
Thanks
Good for you, Im 79 and doing my renewal. Well done.
You might decide to upgrade your present drone so why not have a crack at it?
I am in the UK and I started with a gift from my son of a phantom 3 advanced drone (soon to be classed as ‘legacy’ ) I purchased a mini 4 combo and just concentrated on that one building up my flight times. Now that I have the A2 I shall be flying the phantom a bit more.
Nice one I guess it will not be so nerve wracking as the first one eh?
Thank you it feels so good to get it done at last.
