Have people used CPL or varaiable ND filters on their DJI Mini 4 Pro in the UK.
Which is better K&F or Neweer?
K&F Concept VND + UV +CPL Filter Kits For DJI Mini 4 Pro 4 Pack ND2-32 (1-5 Stops)+ND32-512 (5-9 Stops)+CPL+UV Lens Filter with 28 Layers of Nano-coating
or
Neewer Variable ND Filter Set Compatible with DJI Mini 4 Pro, 4 Pack ND2-ND32 (1-5 Stops)/ND64-ND512 (6-9 Stops) Limited VND/CPL/UV Filter, Multi Coated HD Optical Glass/Aluminum Frame
Variable ND filters for a camera drone, are pretty useless. You’d be better off with a set of fixed ND filters.
As for the CPL, they are completely useless. The polarisation as to be 90 degrees from the brightest light for it to work and you have no control or ability to rotate the filter once the drone is on flight.
I purchased the Neewer ND & CPL Filter Set Compatible with DJI Mini 4 Pro, 8 Pack UV CPL ND8 ND16 ND32 ND64 ND128 ND256 CPL Polarizer Neutral Density Drone Lens Filters, Multi Coated HD Optical Glass/Aluminum Frame, from amazon, and i use the nd filter for light trails that i am into at the moment. Also you can use them to add motion blur to video if you fly close to your subject. I am impressed with them, and i think it helps with night photography with the drone. i have attached a few examples of light trails, the max lenght for photo for mini 4 pro is 8 seconds, i have also used them during the day for a waterfall,
at night you need very little wind for long exposure, but during the day you will not notice it as much aslong as there is not to much movement, with the wind. I also seen on you tube people just placing there drone on the car roof with out it flying to take long exposures, handy if you are in a carpark near a nice bridge like the forth rail and its to windy for a long expsure, or even a time lapse
i have put my action 4 on my dog and done a hyperlapse kinda cool, some times giving ideas might spark another idea in someone, and spark the creative bug and inspiration, and the possibilities are endless, one thing i have came to realisle most of it costs money
Not strictly true, but they are a bit of a faff. You need to handhold the filter to adjust it so you can see the effect, then fit it and hope you got it right. Not much use on landscapes due to the rather wide angle of lens. You’ll get banding in your sky. They are however still useful for closer up shots and removing reflections.
But as I’m typing this, I’m struggling to remember the last time I used one on the drone
