Lake Vyrnwy, Powys, Wales

Just wondered if anyone on GADC has flown at this location as I looking to take shots of the straining tower as well as a fly over the lake.

If so can I ask wheres best to take off without annoying the locals?

Thanks in advance.

Carl

There was a tv documentary about this place. If memory serves me right, it was originally a village and us scouser’s needed a fresh water source so the villagers were evicted and the village flooded.

Bits of the village can still be seen when the water level drops

I think you may have a problem flying here, as you might have to share with typhoon fighter jets from RAF. Who fly close to this location at well below 400ft almost daily.

Nothing shown on either NATS or Drone Scene

They fly north south just clipping the bottom of the lake. And often you here them but don’t see them. That’s when they fly below you in the valley. Probably not mentioned as it’s training exercises.

I did this a while back .
