Landing Mats - Yea or Nay?

takeoff and landing right at the start of my drone journey.

It was a bit nerve wracking the first couple of times but well worth the effort.

I did do the “grab it and turn it upside down” a few times but then got the confidence to land into my outstretched palm.

As mentioned above, it’s one less piece of kit to carry.

I was doing the grab with hand and turn over but it actually scared me to bits as I was trying to get it whilst keeping all my fingers at the same time. I wsa shown the land on hand and to be honest I do that a lot now. Sometimes it refuses if my hand is not aligned properly but I do it more and more… As you can see all the words in this message have all the letters so that means I still have all the fingers on my hand.

Which is a known cause for damaging the gimbal motor

Never thought of that. Lucky I hand catch now rather then grab and scare the poor thing in stopping. lol

I find the biggest issue with most landing mats is using a compass to work out which way North is!!

I didn’t know about the damage flipping could cause but I soon got the hang of landing into my palm.

Mind you, I do use a mat for the Inspire 2 because it’s a bit dodgy trying to hand catch that brute while you’re also piloting it. Those blades are massive. The mat for that is 150cm across so it’s a bit overkill for smaller aircraft.
