Off the wall question.
Is you were making a landing pad for a DJI Lito X1, what colours and pattern would you put on it?
Generally most are orange and plain, although I’ve seen some orange one side, blue the other. I’m guessing (someone will correct me if I’ve guessed wrong) you can have any colour you want, but green may not work well in a field with grass being green! lol. Likewise light brown sandy colour not good for beach TOAL. Ergo, Orange works well in most cases…
As for pattern, mostly its four or eight points of the compass, plain other than that, some have branding of some kind, company logo etc. Various things are used to hold it down from tent pegs to some stones. Although the later may cause a hazard if blown about…
Hand catch and launch, its the best way
I agree, but never bother with the pegs, if it blows away it’s way too windy to fly my Mini. Maybe the downdraft from larger drones / greater wind tolerance makes them useful for bigger UAVs?
For a minute I thought that was an anti-Karen claymore to the right of the landing pad.

Probably the inverse colours of whichever surface you usually take off from.
The reversible mats are handy for using the orange side when launching from grass because it’s a great contrasting colour for the auto-landing sensors to lock on to when using RTH.

Tried this Saturday on top of a waste bin about 500mm square and the Lito X1 RTH landed spot on.
