I have been searching for good places to fly in Bath. According to the BANES Local Authority website, Lansdown Playing Fields North is the only park in Bath where we are permitted to fly. I took a trip up there to find it has no access to the public and there’s a sign stating that it is in use by the Lansdown Model Flying Club. I have tried to contact them, searched for a website, emailed them and contacted their Facebook account and no response. The BANES website says you can hire the field for 750 quid a day. I just wanted to either request an afternoon to use it or to join the club if it gives me access. Anyone have any idea what the position is with this place? Looks an ideal location with superb views of Bath, Colerne and Bath racecourse.
According to Drone Scene and our Freedom of Information requests, Bath & North East Somerset Council (which I assume is what you meant by “banes”?) do not have any byelaws or polices relating to the recreational use of drones from their land.

Enjoy your flights @Bobevens
Thanks @PingSpike, I hadn’t seen that and comes in handy if challenged in future. It’s all smoke and mirrors with LA’s!
Appreciate the detailed response!
Deceptively so I’m afraid
They know they don’t have any byelaws that can prevent you flying so they do their best with that very same smoke and mirrors to try and frighten people off enjoying their hobby.
National Trust employ very similar and equally as misleading tactics.
You’re very welcome, don’t hesitate to ask if you have any other questions
Recreation ground (behind rugby stadium)? Sion Hill?
