I had DJI Fly running on an older phone, but now I’ve switched to a Pixel 8 Pro, the app won’t install. It gets so far (after allowing non-Play Store apps) but then a message says it’s not compatible with the latest Android version… something about not meeting privacy requirements.
I do get the option to install anyway with a warning about compromising the phone, but I didn’t have to do this on my older phone. I assume some recent update has added some additional safeguards that the app doesn’t match.
I could install it but I’m not desperate to (I use a DJI RC mainly) - so I hope DJI will fix this.
Cheers, Steve.
Try this…
Download the latest version of the DJI Fly app from the DJI official website here instead of from Google Play.
Please follow this path to turn off Google Play Protect options and test again:
Google Play — Profile — Play Protect — Setting — Turn off below two options — Re-install App and test again.

The app isn’t on Google Play at all. I downloaded the latest and found the problem.
I had a similar problem with my Galaxy phone. I needed to uninstall, re download the app from the dji website, then install the new version from scratch.

I tried downloading again but got the same result as before.
Here’s the thing …
Either you click “Install anyway” on your Pixel 8 that’s trying to “protect you”, or you install it on a phone that’s on an earlier version of Android that doesn’t protect you as much and never did when you were using it … and you survived.
Either way the same app is installed, and either way if it’s unsafe it’s still going to be installed.
Thousands (perhaps millions) will have installed it and lived to tell the tale, including probably well in excess of a couple of thousand people on GADC.

My old phone was on the same version of Android as the new one. I’m just surprised that I started getting the message. I’ve never had it for any other side-loaded app. Maybe I’ll discover more now I’ve got the new phone.
No qualms about installing DJI Fly.
If it’s on the same version, same API level, same build, same security patch update … then it will behave the same way.
If it doesn’t, then there is a difference.

Click ‘Install anyway’ and then all will be fine.

Until all our photos and location data shows up on yet another DJI data leak in the future
Just carry on installing, it will be ok.
