Leaving Hayling Island

I took a break from writing tomorrow’s film article to enjoy the calmer weather. The photo shows the bridge off Hayling with Langstone Harbour on the left and Chichester Harbour to the right.

Now to write 1000 words on Joey Heatherton (who she?) before 21:00 deadline

Knew the area well, was based at Portsmouth (Gosport) for a good few years back in the 70’s and 80’s. Would be interesting to see how it’s changed over the years.

Navy? Surface or subs?

It has changed - a lot of building, far more people and cars yet the roads and the infrastructure are much the same. On a sunny day in the school holidays it can take 90 minutes to get the five miles from beach to bridge. Get yourself down here and take a look around before it’s all brick and concrete. :frowning:

Subs for 18 years. Around 10 of them in the 1st Submarine Squadron at HMS Dolphin, Gosport. I know Dolphin has now closed, wonder if the 100 foot deep escape training tank is still there?

I’ll ask my next-door neighbour, ex-subs now working for Prison Service.
