Hi John, just a question. How come you never selected a sky mask in LR ,adjust the WB, then apply another sky mask, invert it and adjust the land temp, as to give it more of a match.
More curiosity than anything🤷

It’s just the way I’ve always worked Ady. I’ve been using masks in Photoshop for years. I used to shoot landscapes using multiple images at various exposures, all shot on a tripod and then all blended together using layer masks. Not even sure if LR had masks back then
Has this last one run its course anymore for anymore ?
If so @Drumsagard John when time allows you would you like to nominate someone to upload an image ?
Many thanks …
Okay, so I’m not normally a fan of swapping out skies, I like to work with what is there. However, I loved @Kirky image, it looks very moody and dramatic, the sky works really well.. So over to you Rich @Kirky
Thank you & I hear you on the sky swapping thing I don’t like doing it either, so I take my hat off to the ones above that managed to make good of the original sky ‘ it had the best of me ‘,
I shall dig something out of one of my more recent locations that I have in mind.
Thanks …
I thought id post this one, I really loved the location as to me it had the sort of old industrial theme to it & liked the houses / rooftops in the background,
whilst I’m still trying to learn editing in itself, my biggest challenge is composition I struggle with as my brain only likes to see things centralised vertical / horizontal etc but I’m trying to overcome that,
other than the composition may not be that great I also found when trying to edit this I couldn’t seem to get the temperature ( white balance ) right resulting in getting Kinda lost & not overly happy with the end result but I guess that’s part of learning,
Bliss Tweed Mill Oxfordshire,
5 x AEB although the Raws / DNG are preferred which I’m adding, I shall upload a jpeg should anyone new to this that find it easier working with may want to have a go join in,

Nice pic Rich, loads of detail.
Thought I’d brighten proceedings up, add some HDR, maul about with perspective and cropped. Never really spent that long with it, but used Nik collection perspective for the first time , which was interesting.

I liked the photo, Rich.
Used HDR Photoshop to auto merge. masked the sky and inverted to edit the foreground. masked the factory and edited that seperately. Used the curve to get somewhere near and played with the texture and Clarity to get the right balance and used the colour mixer to change the colour of the dome part of the chimney and the grass and left the rest.
Used the sky mask to change the vibrance and saturation and tone with full de-grain. Straightened the horizon/chimney and croped it slightly.
Checked the whitebalance and colour grading at the end and thats it!
PS missed the blend on the horizon but heyho!
