Levens Hall, A stunning historic house and Topiary Garden in the Lakes

Levens Hall, is one of Cumbria’s most historic and beautifully preserved homes.

A visit will take you on a journey through more than 700 years of history — from its origins as a medieval pele tower, through its Elizabethan transformation, to the creation of its world-famous topiary gardens by Colonel James Grahme and designer Guillaume Beaumont in the 1690s.

There is a timeless atmosphere inside and out of the house that is still very much kept alive by the Bagot family, who have called it home for over two centuries.

Just a few miles along the A6 from the A590/A591 Junction roundabout it is well sign posted. I parked in the grounds for free but there is a charge for entering the grounds and hall itself.

Had a great time here and was amazed I hadn’t heard of the place sooner!

Great video Col, that place is well worth a visit.
The gardens are pretty stunning, but made more stunning-er seeing it from the air.
It’s an ideal showcase for why we have our drones.
Thanks again,

Lovely place, one of our regular walks on their land the other side of the A6.
