Levens Hall, is one of Cumbria’s most historic and beautifully preserved homes.
A visit will take you on a journey through more than 700 years of history — from its origins as a medieval pele tower, through its Elizabethan transformation, to the creation of its world-famous topiary gardens by Colonel James Grahme and designer Guillaume Beaumont in the 1690s.
There is a timeless atmosphere inside and out of the house that is still very much kept alive by the Bagot family, who have called it home for over two centuries.
Just a few miles along the A6 from the A590/A591 Junction roundabout it is well sign posted. I parked in the grounds for free but there is a charge for entering the grounds and hall itself.
Had a great time here and was amazed I hadn’t heard of the place sooner!
