Lichfield Cathedral - be inspired by a spire ....or three!

The Central Spire of Lichfield Cathedral was in danger of collapse, once more! Thanks to National Lottery Funding it has again been repaired for future generations to enjoy its silhouette against the bright Lichfield sky. If you’d like to hear about its past and see its present watch till the end.

Good job as always sir! Shame about the building works but doesn’t really detract too much :+1:t2:

Thx David. I actually delayed doing the video to document the works. An idea that was given to me by @firstadekit Ade. As time passes the finished work will hopefully be available for all to see but how they kept it going will be gone forever if not for pictures and video. :+1:

Not sure about that Ady but agree on this occasion.:rofl: Really enjoyed doing this one and as the weather was good all the time I spent there, I can recommend the ice cream in Beacon Park.

Another nice vid mate. Always nice to see a bit of history from the air

You said ‘it’s the only English medieval catherdral to boast 3 spires’. On top of Truro and Edinburgh,
not that it now counts, but between the 14th and 16th centuries Lincoln Cathedral also had three spires and was the tallest building in the world for 238 years until the central spire collapsed in 1549, and sadly wasn’t rebuilt.

Again, nice vid, really enjoyed it

@clinkadink Thx Chris. At least Henry wasn’t to blame this time!

Not had a charmed life has it! Damaged by fire, an earthquake, structural failures twice; collapsing during a sermon burying part of the congregation the last time … they do say that God moves in mysterious ways!

Angie’s (missus) step-sister lives in Lincoln. I keep meaning to video the beast but red wine always seems to get in the way for some reason! The Cathedral not the missus or her step-sister!

I really don’t like Henry. The guy was a complete muppet.

I didn’t know it was that bad, wow … now I can see why they decided not to rebuild the spire!

Nor me, if it wasn’t for his rampant ego with a pecker to match, we’d be filming masterpieces instead of ruins. :hugs:

I think the key word is Medieval when referring to the only one.
