Liddington Castle, near Swindon

Visited Liddington Castle (hill fort) today with my DJI Mini 2. The sun shone every now and again. This is a lovely, peaceful location with tons of history. There were birds of prey making use of the thermals on the ridgeline and a paraglider trying to do the same. The sound of skylarks was everywhere both on the walk to the hillfort and whilst there.

Access to this site is good. There are numerous small laybys on nearby roads, each capable of accommodating a couple of cars. The OS map doesn’t show any footpaths going to the site of the hillfort itself, but there is a good permissive path from the nearest corner of the Ridgeway. An easy walk.

I have been there a few times, and parked here and here. Both were’nt easy for me  I must have missed the path that you used :joy:

I parked at the second of the locations you give - less of a climb. I guess it all depends on your, or my, definition of easy. I was think back to some of the muddy walk I’ve ventured on over the winter. All was dry and easy today.

Yes, the second one is certainly an easier climb, but longer. Plus this way, you get to see Liddington Clump and the Starfish Decoy Bunker :+1:
