Looking for a filming location, not too far from Manchester - within 2 hrs - for filming a MINI on the road

Hi All,

Trying to find a location to take some video of hubby’s MINI Cooper, thinkng of somehing hilly or next to water that I can fly while he drives the car, ideally somewhere not too busy, and that will afford me the chance to use the AVATA and AIR3, to capture some cinematic and closer in FPV shots…

Anyone done any car videography? Any suggestions of roads that may suit?

Hi Not sure about 2hours, dont come from area, but between Keighley and hebden bridge, (A6033) is good, i think there is a bus called bronte bus, because of the sisters, also how about near where the last of summer wine was filmed.

Hi I do know where are lots of roads, that would make great filming locations in the Peak District. Some of them are long straight unclassified roads, that where old roman roads. I can send you the locations later when am back in the office, if you like.

The B6105 in the woodhead valley. Can be quite twisty. Generally can be quiet. It’s the other side from the A628 Woodhead road so you have reservoirs and hills in the background.

Do motorbikes count?
You actually know what to do. So what im going to say will seem like im teaching you to suck eggs.

Plan each shot.
Make sure Lee knows what you want to achieve and what he needs to do to achieve it. Try and film below the top speed of the drone. That way, you have an enveolpe for if the vehicle speeds up, you can still keep up.
Be prepared to take the same shot 2 or 3 times to get angles right.
Be prepared to abort.
Obviously as you want low shots be aware of public.

Thanks Paul, I will take a look at that…

Yes please, that would be awesome…

Cool, I shall check that out…

Thats great, thank you…

Definitely MC count for sure…
Thanks, I have an idea of what to film, just need to find the right locations that allow me to do so without annoying anyone or breaking any CAA regs…

You could try somewhere like Ramshaw Rocks in Staffordshire.

At the back of the rocks there’s a layby for parking. The road is fairly quiet and would be good for doing drone filming. You just need to check there aren’t any active NOTAMs.

Scenery is also superb.
