Is there “Lost & Found Drones” thread anywhere on here ?
I saw a post on a local (Harpenden) “Nextdoor” site about a found drone, but I don’t know where to put it on this site.
There is now
If you happen to be walking along Lord Mayor’s Walk in York, and a DJI Mini 3 falls out of a tree opposite Number 36, that’s mine. I’m doing a project of filming the Minster from all points around the clock, from near and far. just getting some of the final ‘near’ shots and I was flying over the moat area just outside the Wall, doing a little rotation - and it rotated into the high branches of the tree. (I thought it was higher). I’m cheesed off that the SD card is still up there, as I had just got some rather good footage of Micklegate Bar, Clifford’s Tower, and King’s Pool, when caution and vigilance drooped a bit at Lord Mayor’s Walk. I reported it to the City Council, and to the Police ‘immobilise.com’ site. Not sure where else to report. The CAA accident site seems to be a bit of overkill for this event. Chance of it falling into traffic is abou zero, but it might fall into the footpath, or into the nettles in the moat. Probably would take several wind dislodging events for it actually to reach the ground. I may find it in November, after the leaves are gone.
Is it not retrievable
It’s way too high up. FLashing and beeping won’t dislodge it. The motor won’t restart. And the battery must be dead by now.
How high is “too high”. We retrieved one from 18 metres up a tree the other day.
I was flying at about 28 metres. I don’t have a ladder and pole combination that will do that. Foliage is too dense so I can’t see its precise location, but they are small wavy branches. I haven’t climbed a tree like that since I was 12 …
