DISCOVER LOWTHER CASTLE’S HISTORIC JOURNEY FROM RICHES TO RUIN, RESTORATION & REGENERATION
Lowther Castle is a grade II listed country house near Penrith in Cumbria, England. It was the ancestral home of the Lowther family, who have been prominent in the area for centuries. Constructed between 1806 and 1814 for William Lowther, 1st Earl of Lonsdale, the castle was designed by renowned architect Robert Smirke in the grand Gothic Revival style. Featuring battlements, towers, and an imposing façade, it reflected the opulence of its time.
Way too much history too mention here, its all in the vid, and you dont even have to read it!
Bugger, for some reason I can only watch around 50% of videos on here at other times I get a sign in to prove your not a robot, when you click the link it takes you to crap unrelated YouTube thread! I’ll come back later and try again.
@Seadog Thats odd , I usually click on the YouTube icon then maximise and it plays direct from YouTube. I change to 2160 in quality setting as for some reason YouTube always kick it out at 720p. Never had the robot thing either?
Does it do it for all the videos you play through Grey Arrows or just mine, Phil?
Not just yours. It seems to be fairly random. I click on the icon to watch & 50% of the time I can watch 50% I get the grey box ‘sign in to prove your not a robot”, and as said useless clicking the grey box as it leads to unrelated junk. I have a VPN however I turn it off before trying to watch a video , anyway it happened before I got the vpn, since joining Greyarrows, there was a thread back around last September but as far as I’m concerned it’s never been resolved. I’ll try later in the day, I have watched your videos before so hey ho, something I have to live with.
Yes, Phil, I looked to see if I was encroaching on their territory but far enough away to be an issue.
I first saw the place on a walk from Askham in deep snow one winter. It was all fenced in and covered in undergrowth and danger signs. What an improvement since then!
Back in the early 1960s it was nearly bought to be turned into a Butlins holiday camp. So pleased it didn’t go through. It’s a nice craft centre and the afternoon tea is good.
