MA2 gimbal motor overload

Just to add I think I see some where in sport mode with critical low battery can throw the gimbal error , thanks

Wind doesn’t seem that strong. The first gimbal warning is almost exactly the same time that the battery voltage drops below 9.90 volts. I’m guessing - that must be the voltage where the gimbal starts to struggle - so if you increase demand by using sports mode there is probably not enough juice to go around. :man_shrugging:

Everything else looks normal. Data says that the battery has only been charged once - is that correct ??
If so - the battery performance will probably improve a little after a few charges.
Kep an eye on the battery info for the next few flights - just to be sure there’s nothing going wrong with the battery :+1: :+1: :+1:

Yes john that is exactly correct I’ve just bought another battery , the only reason I have stocked up on these battery’s just in case I did get the air2s ! I’m going to get out later today in the right place as I know my frustration & the ( call it ) quick test flights I have been doing since it has been repaired is going to land me in trouble if I’m not careful :scream: , I don’t want to break all the rules that’s for sure , I’ve just re calibrated the sensors the gimbal & I m u also the controller and I’ll do the compass when I get to my location at about 6 pm today , I’m gonna be totally honest I’ve spent to much time looking for probally what’s not there than flying it , today it all changes I got to control this ocd s&&t it’s doing my head in :person_facepalming:t2: , I well appreciate all your help , how you understand reading in to that is obviously good knowledge and experience , I know how to check the battery’s in the fly app not sure if that will be ok , big thanks to you guys taking the time and effort to read in to this for me , I wish I knew the things you guys did , it would be nice to give something back instead of keep asking …. Much much thanks !

My only suggestion is when you fly is to keep an eye on the battery percentage level.
For me - I would look to be ending the flight with 20 percent remaining - this gives you a bit of margin in case things go a little Pete Tong at some point.
Just like all the others here, I’m only too happy to help whenever I can - we all had to learn at some point. Just like learning to drive - it will become second nature :+1: :+1: :+1:

Just remember - the only silly question is the one you didn’t ask which then ends up in crashing the drone. The more questions asked the more we all learn :+1: :+1: :+1:

Let us know how the gimbal performs on your 6 o’clock flight - fly safe :+1: :+1: :+1:

I would strongly second this.
Of all the things I regret flying drones, it’s been forced mistakes because I had decided to squeeze another few photos or more video before returning, and had no choices left for landing.

Thanks john , yep I always usually land at 20-25% but because I only took one battery out to test everything , as you can see in the flight log I went one way came back wasn’t sure then shot off again in another direction , about me saying it was windy , we’re I was there was gusts ( ground level ) I presumed it was above as-well as the wind was behind me but head on for the drone , hence the sport mode & the drone did not like it , i pushed it too far :grimacing: ! That’s a lesson learned for sure , I’d be absolutely stuffed if I hadn’t of found GADC I would of gave up or sold it by now , I can never be grateful enough to the club & everyone’s efforts , so appreciative . thanks again

Yes I totally get that & I guess it puts you under pressure , then the wind changes direction ( figure of speech ) then it’s landing on its own :scream: I’ll be honest I crapped myself nearly when I felt like what ever I was pressing , cancel pause or whatever it basically done what it wanted to do like I had lost control , that’s pretty naughty , that then set off panic & anxiety’s , again a big lesson learned thanks Andy , I do listen to people believe it or not  I just come up with stupid things in my head :person_facepalming:t2: !
Again a big thanks

The thing to do is hold the left stick up, trying to keep the bird aloft for a while longer. It should respond to that and let you steer around while it’s screaming blue murder ā€œcritical battery landing nowā€ and beeping like a demented banshee.

The Mavic Air 2 can fly up to 45mph and can cover 3/4 mile in a minute. IF you’re not flying too far from where you’re standing it can cover that ground in a short time and you can save yourself a walk, but only if you’ve got enough flight time to put down safely.

However if you’re caught in a worst case scenario, steer away from people, property, trees, find a location where the drone won’t be run over by a car nor picked up by a member of the public. The drone can land itself, then the DJI Fly software will help you track down where it landed.

The more battery you have on landing, the longer the drone will stay conscious while you look for it—but we’re not doing this in a situation where there’s much juice left. The drone can be told to beep and flash its lights, but it’s not very loud nor bright and the best bet is to have picked that emergency landing place carefully and know how to get to the exact place.

It’s good also to have your mobile phone number label on outside of drone becuase some members of the public will do the right thing!

Cheers for that Andy , all taken in I’ll do that with the phone number , I’ll also plan my flights more carful and think ahead so this does not happen again , many thanks

You said it was windy - a gust hitting the drone from the front can cause a brief gimbal error ( but not strong steady winds as the airspeed is the same regardless of wind direction)

Thanks mate , I think it was the critical low battery & in sports mode was to much for it , many thanks
