Hi
I feel a bit silly for asking this question & I can’t seem to find what I’m looking for so I was hoping some one could be kind enough to help before I buy , ok so I have a MA2 & I know the Air 2s has a bigger sensor ( hence why I’m thinking of upgrading ) I like night flying which that would help , secondly ocusync , mine has 2.0 Air 2s has 3.0 which is suppose to be better ( how much better ) , I’ve been on YT to try & find some real comparisons with those 2 models but I can’t find what I’m really looking for so it’s easier for me to try & word it , I’ve managed to get some half decent pictures with my MA2 but I know there’s something better out there Air2s ( is there cons in comparison as well as pros side by side ) , I don’t want to go & spend thousands on a mavic 3 but want a good happy medium so I have no need to upgrade anytime soon , so this is going to sound silly but I’ll say it how it is , is this really worth the upgrade ( if I can already get pretty good pictures ? with the MA2 ) , transmission is good as I’m running in fcc and I do really like my drone & have always been a believer if it’s not broke don’t try & fix it , so somebody kindly as an outsider looking in could you kindly explain to me other than , yes it has a bigger sensor ( better pictures ? ) & kindly if I was to make this move what other benefits would this give me over the MA2 , apart from the sensor is there a lot off difference in it side by side , my other reason on choosing this model I have a spare 7 batteries which will fit as you guys probaly know , if it’s not a massive jump I might leave it , if it’s something that really sells it to me I’ll go for it , sorry for the long topic I’m really looking for some honest advice & would be ever so grateful to hear your thoughts , many thanks

Thanks for that buddy , I’ll watch those , it would be nice if possible maybe someone on here that has had first hand experience with those 2 drones , I hope I’m not asking to much , I’ll watch those & or read , many thanks
Calling @ianinlondon he owns/owned both
The Mavic Air 2 is a very capable aircraft. The Air 2S has a bigger sensor. Unless you really feel that that is absolutely vital to enhancing your pictures I would save your money and expolore the Air 2’s capbilities to the maximum.
By the time you feel that you have outgrown the Air2 the Air4S will be available. Buy that ![]()
Thanks @stubbyd yes I pretty much knew what it was going to say ( air 2s ) being the overall winner , as I have what I have should I really go for it , or should I wait & forget I have many battery’s to source it & see what they bring out next , I’ll let a vote or someone decide for me lol
Thankyou
Buy a Mini 3 instead so you can fly it anywhere #justsaying
I did think that Chris but if I can be completely honest I’d still have to travel a good distance for good scenery , I appreciate your thoughts tho , maybe I’ll hold of for a bit and practice more with what I have , the air2s will still do a good job regardless as to what comes out next “ hopefully “ .
Recently I have spent more time on here asking questions than actually flying
Also while I was writing the above topic the one I had my eye on which was only flown twice sold
for 650 fly more , my fault I haggled to much & was trying to get it for 600 , ah well is what it is , it’s a shame I can’t find the drone on its own , there is one on eBay but it has problems maybe you might no if it’s worth it I’ll post the link , then I could sell mine.
Many thanks
Appreciated Chris , hopefully if it’s not a massive jump then maybe just get the best out of what I have for now , as I’ve said in previous posts some times having thousands of pounds worth of photography gear doesn’t mean your take pro pictures
I think I’m right in saying that but good gear does help too I guess .
Thankyou
In the same way a Ferrari makes you a better driver ?
Exactly that ( edit good whatever does help ) but it don’t make you a pro , if I drive Hamiltons F1 not only will I smash it too bits it won’t make me a good driver , bang on the money .

@PitchFader As an owner of the Air2, the Air2S and the Mini 3 Pro, were I in your shoes, I would absolutely keep the Air 2 and get a Mini 3 Pro. The individual pixel sizes on the Mini 3 Pro are the same as the Air 2S; you’re just missing out on 5.4K video (which I don’t think is useful at all) and the 20Mp stills; if stills are the most important thing to you above all else, get the Air2S, otherwise the Mini 3 Pro can be flown almost anywhere, in front of anyone, over people, looks like a toy, will get you no grief whatsosever and still produce blinding results, and you will quickly fall in love with the nice screen built in (get the RC package - defo worth the extra £150).
Not that I have strong feelings either way… ![]()
100% agree.
In the first month of flying the Mini 3 I have flown 63km! It is so easy with the built in screen.
This compares with 67km with my Air 2 in 21 months.
The only time I will now fly the Air 2 is when the wind is up.
Ok I’ve taken your comments on board & very much appreciate your thoughts , the reason I was possibly also opting for the air2s was not just for its capability’s but as I have many batteries ,
The mini 3 pro is a great little drone & I can see that everyone has gone wild over it , the only thing or things shall I say that has recently put me off buying one is , I kept seeing never ending problems on YouTube which to do with the rc with the built in screen , maps didn’t work or load , I think quite a bunch of things didn’t work properly if there all sorted now I don’t no but I didn’t fancy the headache , so I stopped watching them , secondly was quite superficial call it as I’m so used to iOS that is my only thing that has swayed me away from it so far , being the control is pretty much as good as android or is it android ? , I did ask on here if anyone knew how good the transmission on it was ( in fcc & ce ) but I heard nothing back , but yes I can see that smaller is sometimes bigger ,
Just quickly back too the 2s yes your more restricted and I do really love still photos ( a lot ) if I can be totally honest photos get most of my attention & as it’s just a vamped up version of the MA2 getting to work with it would make things easier for me , as also noted I have 7 spare batteries if this is the move I made , so the air 2s might be more cost efficient for me & the reasons stated above , hmmmmm based on what I’ve said I think I need to ask the audience as I feel I’m half way there already 2s wise , but without a doubt I know the mini 3 is awesome so by no means am I knocking it !
Lastly ( sorry for the SA by the way ) is when I do get the MA2 out which I no in the drone world is classed as getting on a bit I do find it is very capable of giving me excellent pictures for what it is or for what I want , great in the wind as was mentioned by drone geek , not all the time the pics are great as we know every picture tells a different story or might not come out great , but for a whatever drone ( entry level ) it can still do it , so that said I’ve pinned myself against the wall now
, I’m half way there with the 2s , or to start from scratch with the mini 3 pro , or if it ain’t broke don’t try & fix it meaning the MA2 , or is the upgrade from ma2 to air 2s as another member mentioned enough to do it , will there be an air3 that will knock them all for six or whatever , I’m not on about the mini 3 ( I’m keeping that to the side for now ) in comparison with what I have said and what my original intentions were ! If you’ve made it to the bottom of this post well done , I owe you a drink
thanks
Sorry just to add the other reason I was steering away from a sub 250 , is that I no I’d be doing never ending flights from my garden , as with the bigger drones forces you to make it a proper adventure out if that makes sense , also to many Karen’s round here & I can’t be assed with them moaning which will probally make me lose my rag an end up in trouble , they moan when I’m at the park ! ![]()
