Just messing around with some footage for a new video, not sure how I feel about it.
Would love some feed back!
HISTORY:
Magheramorne, near Larne in County Antrim, has a long industrial history rooted in limestone quarrying, which began in the late 18th century. The area’s rich limestone deposits made it an important site for lime production and export throughout the 19th century, contributing significantly to the local economy and shaping the community.
In 1911, the Larne Lough Portland Cement Works-commonly known as Magheramorne cement works-was established, with cement production beginning in 1914. The plant was built close to the railway and Larne Lough, allowing easy access to both limestone and clay, and featured modern facilities for its time, including large storage silos and an electric power plant. The works expanded after World War I and became a major employer in the region.
The cement works operated for much of the 20th century under various owners, most notably Blue Circle Cement. However, changing industrial demands and consolidation in the cement industry led to its closure in 1980, ending both cement production and large-scale quarrying at Magheramorne.
In the decades since, the site has been largely derelict but has seen new life through regeneration proposals and as a filming location for HBO’s Game of Thrones. Plans have been made to transform the area into an eco-village and recreation centre, while its dramatic landscape and industrial ruins have brought it international attention in popular culture.
