Magpie Mine is a well-preserved disused lead mine near the village of Sheldon in Derbyshire, England, in the parish of Ashford in the Water. The walled enclosure of five lead mines (Magpie Mine, Dirty Red Soil, Great Red Soil, Maypit and Horsesteps) is a protected Scheduled Monument.
Mid-Derbyshire has a history of industrial lead mining going back to Roman times. Lead mining at this site goes back to at least the 17th century. The Shuttlebark vein of lead ore was officially opened in 1682. Magpie Mine is recorded back to 1740.
After over 200 years of operation, Magpie Mine closed in 1958 and was the last working lead mine in Derbyshire. The Peak District Mines Historical Society now manages the site and has undertaken much restoration work.

I want to fly here, but there are no parking or take off and landing markers. Can anyone that has flown here or knows the area add some markers to the map please?

I’ve just added a new Parking marker to this location @Dr0newerks
I looked on Google Maps and there appears to be a bit of a rough pull in on the road immediately South of the mine .
Should have did a bit more research on where to go when visiting this location - blindly followed the satnav and ended up driving up a bit of a green lane that is at the far side of where the mine is - no real issue for me but I think if someone in a small car tired they might have had an issue.
As a result of being in slightly in the wrong place I was a lot further away from the buildings than I had wanted to be and with it being a bit gusty I didn’t fly for as long as I would have liked to.
But will be back for sure as its such a great location and sunsets or sunrises will be just perfect here.
