Hello all, I wondered if you knowledgeable people could help me? I took my M2Z out this morning and after flying it loads of times, all of a sudden, the screen went blank and the screen said, ‘Disconnected’, ‘Obstacle Avoidance Unavailable’. The strange thing was, it didn’t RTH and was completely controllable so I just brought it back down, turned it off and back on again but still a blank screen-any ideas what happened? I wasn’t near power lines or anything out of the ordinary and I’ve flown here several times before. Any help would be brill, thanks.
Can you share the Airdata log so we can analyse
Are you using a phone/tablet as your screen or a Smart Controller.
If its a phone/tablet set up then it sounds like a disconnect between the phone/tablet and the controller which suggests the cable connecting the two made at fault.
Which connection point are you using to the controller ?? - if using the micro USB to the left of the controller I would suggest changing to the USB-A connection at the base of the controller - this will obviously need a different type of cable to make the connection.
Thanks for the reply-is that the flight log? I’m not sure how to send it.
Head to airdata.com and create a free account. Follow their instructions for your phone to upload the appropriate FlightRecord.
AirData will let you share the flight, and you can post the link here.
Please ask if you get stuck, need help, etc.
Thanks for this though how do I get my M2Z flights logged on there, it’s only synced my mini 2 flights even though it’s same login details?
I had the same issue, syncing my M2P and Mini 2 with Airdata. Solution below.
The fact you were able to control the drone indicates the flight control signal did not disconnect and therefore you have only lost the video feed from the controller to your phone. The drone did not RTH automatically because the flight controller signal was still OK.
Still sounds like a cable to me and I don’t think the flight data will reveal very much more than you already know.
Sounds like a dodgy cable connection.the socket on the side of the controller is notoriously fragile.
I had this 2 or three times, i tend to just unplug and plug back in the cable at the controller. Usually solves the issue.
I too vote for a disconnect between phone/tablet and controller. Usually you will be warned beforehand if the signal is getting weak, and unless you failed to log the home point before takeoff the drone will always RTH, or land if close in, when the radio link disconnects.
This has started happening on my M2P too. Three times on Saturday. I just remove and reinsert it, and it fixes the issue.
Which end of the cable do you mean, the phone connection or the connection to the controller?
Thanks
On the controller, as the Micro AB socket can become faulty quite easily.
It’s not that difficult/expensive to replace the RC’s micro USB socket.
As yet, I’ve never needed to (for my MP - but same controller, physically), but reports some time ago (almost 3 years) of others having problems I decided to get the part ready, in case.
Plenty of videos on YT showing how easy, and the part (a complete internal ribbon cable) was pretty cheap.
Bought on eBay for £16.27 (July '19).
My batteries are not holding a charge so well, these days, so will probably do both at the same time … when I get around to it.
The connection on the controller is the usual suspect.
Personally, after having similar problems I no longer use the micro USB connector on the left side of the controller but use the USB-A port on the base of the controller - never had a a disconnect problem since
Sounds like app crashed. I had the same issue. I had to restart my phone.
