When you get a compass error in sport mode is it during turns?
Compass error can be because of a few things.
Magnetic heading disagreement between mag 1 and 2.
IMU calculated heading disagreeing with either compass one or 2.
The specific fault code in log will show which it is.
Compass errors in sports mode are usually magnetic heading disagreeing with IMU calculated heading.
Start up Assistant before switching on MP?

Yeah, @Shambleclown, could be worth uninstalling a new one and installing that old one that @PingSpike linked to.
It hails from the days when DJI weren’t so obstructive to access to DAT files.

How old is the MP?
The one I used for the hacks … “DJI+Assistant+2+1.1.2_2”
But, back than, visually the UI was identical to the genuine version … except for the additional bits for the hacks.

Manufactured in Sept 2016, we bought on eBay a couple of months ago.
Tried the DJI+Assistant+2+1.1.2_2 download same problem. I will have to Ferranti reset (on/off) my machine and try again. Unfortunately I am in the middle of other work stuff so I cannot do it just yet.

Yeah the bastards stripped all the good shit out of later versions - even the parameter mods are gone now!

Which firmware are you on? … which could be an issue for my version to connect to. Happy to try.

There was a known issue around December 2016 with some MP’s going into atti mode on full throttle.
It was interference from the rear motor wiring.
DJI fixed this in firmware by allowing the FC to choose compass with least interference rather than drop into ATTI.
Some people twisted the wiring to rear motors to resolve.
Should be able to see on log if interference starts at a specific rpm.

… though, having tinkered with the latest version, I may need to double check I’ve not mucked up the drivers first.
