Is it possible or even fair to fly at Meet Up sites when theres no Meet on there. for example Deangate Ridge Kent and others. as I would not want to spoil the opportunity of holding meets there in the future. MP
In my opinion, if you wanna fly there, fly there. If a meet is arranged in the future. You just get some people to fly with. There are no rules as far as I am concerned. I arranged a meet, if I was to find out someone flew there, it would not bother me. (However, if I knew before I would meet them).
There is also nothing stopping you saying you will be there and organsing your own meet.
Thanks, just didn’t know if there was some form of etiquette as you had put yourself out to find the site.
Anyone can create a meeting, it is all about sharing
Hi, I’ve been to Deangate Ridge, Kent from your example a few times and never had any issues with anyone there or the Security Guard that is there. There is open access to public and plenty of dog walkers on the site so it pretty open to public and pilots.
You should be able to fly most places you might wish too. It down to common sense and accepting that if you’re asked to move on that you do so without raising issues, though depending on why they are saying you shouldn’t be there.
If there is a meet that is close to yours then try to avoid that date
On the subject of DeanGate Ridge, we went up there the other day just to be nosy and have a look at the site, I’m sure we were in the right place, parked by the Bowling Green and went in the cafe. Very good by the way.
But spoke with a few people and no one seemed to. Know about using drones, in fact one person in there said it would have to be down to the Council.
It wasn’t very good weather so decided to give it a miss anyway.
But I am correct in that was the right place as a lot of it too the left is newly fenced off.
Hopefully others can add more, but I added it to Drone Scene as a place to fly.
I marked where I parked before and where previous meetups have flown from.
Fly.
Sent it.
Fly.
I pick meet up sites because they are good spots I and others fly regularly when there is no meetups. It is nice to find GADC members there if there is no meetups and I just turn up.
There are the odd site I go to that is not ideal for regular flying, (speaking just for myself) I tend to not pick for meetup.
As an example at the last meet up we only had positive interactions with people external to the meetup.
Fly, send it, fly.
